It was an exciting day for advancements in medical care in the West Valley. A ribbon-cutting on June 14 took place at Banner Boswell Medical Center to herald the arrival of a robot-assisted bronchoscopy platform that detects cancerous nodules sooner.
The hospital is the first in metro Phoenix’s West Valley to offer this innovation.
Among the festivities, gratitude to the community for their generosity in funding this technology was expressed by all in attendance.
They included: Gina W. Ore, Chief Philanthropy Officer from Sun Health Foundation, donors and other friends of Sun Health Foundation; Banner Health leaders including Sharon Lind, Chief Executive Officer at Banner Boswell and Banner Del E. Webb medical centers and her team; Dr. Nikunj Doshi, Chief Medical Officer for Banner Health; Dr. Archan Shah, interventional pulmonologist at Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center; and Dr. Phillip Koo, Physician Executive and Chief of Diagnostic Imaging at Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center.
This platform offers physicians a way to perform minimally invasive biopsies in the outer areas/deeper parts of the lung(s), which are not easily accessible by conventional bronchoscopy.
The generosity of donors makes advancements like these possible. For more information about supporting healthcare advancements through the Generosity for Generations Campaign, visit SunHealthFoundation.org/generosity or call (623) 471-8500.
