  3. Celebrate World Health Day Awareness With Our Arizona Nonprofit

Post date:

Here at Sun Health, a dedicated Arizona nonprofit, we believe that everyone deserves access to good health care practices and information – not only within our immediate community, but throughout the world.

That’s why we would love for you to join us in celebrating this year’s World Health Day on April 7, 2013!

Every year since 1948, the World Health Organization (WHO) has celebrated World Health Day, a day designed to highlight a specific and pressing health topic in order to help better educate the world on a global scale.

Two years ago, WHO focused on anti-microbial resistance. Last year, the world turned their attention to achieving good health in order to add years to life. And this April 7, we look forward to learning even more about the importance of controlling blood pressure.

According to WHO, high blood pressure (or hypertension) can very seriously affect a person’s health. From strokes to heart attacks to kidney failure, if ignored or left uncontrolled, high blood pressure could greatly increase a person’s level of risk for a multitude of serious complications.

And unfortunately, this problem is far from uncommon.

According to WHO, one in every three adults worldwide suffers from high blood pressure. Additionally, that number only increases with age: from 1 in 10 people in their 20s and 30s to 5 in 10 people in their 50s. And with so many potential health threats (exacerbated all the more by factors such as diabetes), high blood pressure is a condition to pay attention to.

Fortunately, there is a way to combat high blood pressure. With a balanced diet, a regular exercise routine, and increased detection awareness, high blood pressure is both preventable and treatable. By encouraging high blood pressure awareness and education on a global scale, WHO is bringing to light a serious health problem that may hopefully soon begin to disappear.

And as an Arizona nonprofit that strives to offer health care and education to our community as a whole, we can’t wait to help WHO spread blood pressure awareness as much as we can.
