SURPRISE, ARIZ. – July 9, 2015 – Jerry S. Solomon has been elected as the new chairman of Sun Health Foundation’s Board of Trustees for the 2016 fiscal year beginning July 1. He has been a member of the board for the past three years, serving on various committees.
Solomon is a retired executive who contributed to the success of numerous high tech and chemical companies including Pac Tel, GTE Information Systems, Texas Instruments, EM/Great Lakes Chemical and Utlix. He also helped launch three startups and ran a consulting business.
“Jerry’s extensive business experience and passion for serving others make him an ideal chairman for Sun Health Foundation,” said Ron Guziak, Sun Health president and CEO. “He has distinguished himself throughout his career as a business leader and volunteer.”
Under Solomon’s leadership, the board will focus on three key objectives:
- To increase fundraising to support Banner Boswell and Banner Del E. Webb medical centers, the Banner Sun Health Research Institute and Sun Health’s community wellness programs and its senior living communities
- To build community awareness of Sun Health’s mission and vision and innovative programs
- To strengthen Sun Health’s reputation as an advocate for the health and wellness of West Valley residents
“It is an exciting time of growth and development for Sun Health and Sun Health Foundation is one of the linchpins in ensuring the organization’s success,” Solomon said. “Philanthropy helped Sun Health become one of the most influential nonprofit health organizations in the state and it will help determine Sun Health’s standing in the future.”
Solomon previously served on two nonprofit boards in Seattle and did volunteer work for nonprofit Benevilla, a social service agency headquartered in Surprise.
