Sun City, Ariz. (March 4, 2020) – On Tuesday, March 3, not one but two major milestones were reached in construction and in community support for the Emergency Department transformation at Banner Boswell Medical Center.
In addition to placement of the last steel girder atop the medical center’s new Emergency Department and six-story patient care tower, Sun Health Foundation unveiled a thermometer revealing a significant progress update – 50% to goal – in community support for the $48 million, 48-month Generosity for Generations Campaign. The Campaign includes six initiatives, the major one being the $34 million Emergency Department and Patient Care Transformation.
The Topping Out program included speakers Todd Hornback, Chairman of Sun Health Foundation’s Board of Directors; and Sharon Lind, CEO, Banner Boswell Medical Center.
An historical photo display included Banner Boswell’s first topping out in 1970. The medical center, together with Sun Health Foundation, is preparing to celebrate 50 years in November.
“As we gaze at the awesome photo display here that reflects our combined 50-year history, it further underscores how incredibly proud we are of our philanthropic partnership with Banner Boswell and Banner Del E. Webb medical centers,” says Mr. Hornback. “Our history has literally been constructed with generations of support from West Valley residents, hospital staff and physicians, volunteers, allied professionals, organizations, faith-based communities, and more. The result is a solid foundation that has made and continues to make many milestones in health care and wellness services possible. It truly takes a village.”
“Momentum is building for this Campaign, a testament to the groundswell of community support that will ensure vital new advancements in health care can continue to be available today and into the future,” says Gina W. Ore, Chief Philanthropy Officer for Sun Health Foundation.
“While we celebrate our progress today in many respects, our work is far from done,” Mr. Hornback adds. “In fact, the last half of the Campaign usually takes the most work. While this Campaign progress milestone is a clear indication that momentum is growing, support continues to be needed.”
