Your Sun Health team began 2014 in full force – mobilizing several signature projects. It’s exciting to see so many activities coming together that will make a positive impact for many in communities we serve.
The Sun Health operating theme of “population health” is policy in action. It is the foundation for all we do to support you, our independent living residents, and area “friends and neighbors,” who trust us to enhance their well-being and our partner hospitals.
Each year, your Board of Directors participates in a “retreat” day for education and reflection on the accomplishments of the past year and goal setting for the year ahead. The focus this year will be on an interactive discussion on health care policy, clinical excellence and dynamic innovations required to support the next generation of health care delivery. We also will experience hands-on/digital health applications to demonstrate how technology can positively alter the health care experience and ultimately, create healthier communities.
We look forward to demonstrating population health activities in “real time,” during the pre-event and grand opening events planned for Sun Health’s newest community health service: The Sun Health Center for Health & Wellbeing. Designed to support community members with chronic conditions related to cardiology, neurology, diabetes and lung disease, the center’s team is working diligently to prepare for the opening, which launched first to our own residents and employees.
All three Sun Health Senior Living campuses and the corporate office have each formed a Community Wellness Advisory team. The groups are developing activities and programs tailored for each campus. Wellness programs focused on both fitness and nutrition will include monthly health challenges, “lunch & learns,” physical activities, weight-loss classes and support groups.
The Center will open to the public in March, with a keynote presentation by Masterpiece Living’s Dr. Roger Landry. He also will do a book signing of his new book: Live Long, Die Short: A Guide to Authentic Health and Successful Aging.
We look forward to sharing more updates about our community health programs as well other senior living and philanthropy projects that will impact you in the coming year. Thank you, as always, for the trust and support you have developed for Sun Health and its mission to create healthy living programs that will serve you – now and in the future.
