  3. Community support opens doors to a Nursery expansion at Banner Del E. Webb

Post date:

Sun City West, Ariz. (July 7, 2021) – A total of $2 million in community support made possible a vital Nursery expansion at Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center, increasing space from 1,300 to 5,000 square feet to meet rapidly growing needs for women and families.

With much fanfare, a festive ribbon cutting ceremony occurred on June 24 in the hospital’s Louisa Kellam Center for Women’s Health to unveil the new Nursery areas which opened last week to welcome approximately 3,000 births each year. Gina W. Ore, Chief Philanthropy Officer for Sun Health Foundation helped cut the ribbon, and was joined by donors and friends, Banner Del E. Webb leaders and staff, and Surprise City Council members to herald an exciting new day in women’s health care for our community.

“What fun it was to join everyone in celebrating this milestone and the generosity of the community in support of women’s healthcare through the Generosity for Generations Campaign,” says Gina W. Ore, Chief Philanthropy Officer for Sun Health Foundation. “These new accommodations for women, babies, and families demonstrate the impact donors can have to improve healthcare today, tomorrow, and for generations to come.”

During the event, Sharon Lind, CEO of Banner Del E. Webb and Banner Boswell medical centers, expressed appreciation for community support and for the partnership with Sun Health Foundation before ribbons were cut and streamers were flung.

Also in attendance at the ribbon cutting were donors and community leaders Larry and Nancy Foy, who have been instrumental in their support for the expansion. Nancy was lead coordinator for a golf tournament at Sun City Grand that directed proceeds to the Campaign for the benefit of the expansion. Other donors included Dr. Frank Fara, former OB/GYN, and wife, Carla, a labor and delivery nurse. Together they not only supported but also “delivered” superior healthcare to women and newborns at Banner Del E. Webb for many years. Through the Campaign, the generosity of these and countless other donors ensures that Banner Del E. Webb can respond to growing healthcare needs for generations to come.
