The way health care is experienced and delivered is undergoing seismic change, making it more important than ever for consumers, especially seniors, to proactively manage their own health care. That was the take-away message from “Proactive Care in a Reactive World,” a talk given by Sun Health Business Consultant and Social Worker Cameron Svendsen at a recent Community Education session hosted at Sun Health’s Grandview Care Center in Sun City West.
Svendsen spoke about the ongoing shift in health care from a diagnosis and disease model to health and wellness model, which requires more accountability from patients. “Active engagement in health and wellness programs is the secret to proactive medicine and accountability,” he said.
He also shared information about numerous Sun Health programs designed to help people stay healthy and vital. Many, such as Community Education, and the Vial of Life and File of Life, are offered free thanks to the generosity of donors and volunteers.
