SURPRISE, ARIZ. – Oct. 30, 2019 – Sun Health Communities is pleased to welcome Rabbi Mindie Snyder to the Spiritual Life department, where she will be based at The Colonnade, a Sun Health Life Care Community in Sun City Grand.
Rabbi Snyder brings more than 30 years of experience in arts, health and human services to her work as a rabbi and chaplain. Her extensive background as an artist, therapist and community organizer will be beneficial to her new role at Sun Health. In addition she has been an organizational executive, consultant to corporations, state and national agencies and a requested media spokesperson for issues on aging, end of life, at-risk youth and families, among other social and public health issues.
She most recently served as the spiritual leader of Congregation Lev Shalom in Flagstaff. While in Flagstaff, she also founded a multi-religious clergy group. She is a member of the Greater Phoenix Board of Rabbis.
“Rabbi Mindie was far and away the best candidate we could find for the unique chaplain position at Sun Health,” says Rev. David Klumpenhower, corporate director of Spiritual Life. “I feel she will be a tremendous addition to the Spiritual Life team, serving our residents and staff with compassion, love, sincerity and wisdom. Rabbi Mindie is an excellent teacher, spiritual leader and counselor, and her unique gifts and talents will be a wonderful addition and blessing to our Sun Health community.”
Rabbi Snyder, who is originally from Philadelphia, completed her formal rabbinical studies at the Academy for Jewish Religion California (AJRCA). She completed additional multi-religious coursework through the nation’s first multi-religious graduate program founded by AJRCA, Bayan Claremont Islamic Graduate School and Claremont School of Theology. Her rabbinical studies have been integrated into her doctoral dissertation at the European Graduate School in Switzerland, which investigates the expressive arts as healthy agents of change.
