Post date:

SURPRISE, Ariz. – Nov. 15, 2018 – “Sun Health Champions of Yesterday and Today” were celebrated at Sun Health Foundation’s annual Gala on Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Renaissance Glendale Hotel & Spa.

Guests enjoyed an exceptional evening of fine dining, dancing, entertainment by the Thaddeus Rose Band and a championship message from special guest, NFL Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith.

The signature West Valley event also celebrated some milestones. The attendance record was broken with a total of 650 seats sold. For the first time, participation in the live, silent and wild card auctions was done electronically, making bidding quick and easy.

All net proceeds from the evening support the transformation of Banner Boswell Medical Center’s Emergency Department that includes a 40,000-square-foot expansion to accommodate 60,000 patient visits annually. The new design will include upgraded equipment, help to shorten wait times, provide quicker access to tests and reduce stress.

“Not only am I proud to be part of a great team that organized such a wonderful event, but also my family truly knows the important role a modern emergency center plays in saving lives,” said Ron Symic, chair of Sun Health Foundation’s Gala Committee. “This new center will enhance the ability of critical care professionals to provide unprecedented medical care.”

The Gala also introduced Sun Health Foundation’s Generosity for Generations, a campaign to raise and invest $48 million in philanthropic funding over 48 months for special initiatives focusing on emergency services, community health and wellness, women and infant services, spine health and orthopedic, cancer care, and future cardiac and cancer care needs.

“What an inspiring evening celebrating a legacy of superior health care that would not have been possible without the generosity of community champions that spans generations,” said Todd Hornback, Generosity for Generations Campaign chair and vice chair of Sun Health Foundation’s Board of Trustees.

“Sun Health Foundation is honored to continue its role as the philanthropic link between the community and Banner Boswell and Banner Del E. Webb medical centers, and Banner Sun Health Research Institute,” Hornback added. “We’re proud to be a part of Banner Health’s life-changing work.”
