Our volunteers believe in Sun Health and its mission, and they have an unparalleled dedication to serving their community. This has been the case since the 1960s. Our retail stores have been successful in this community because of our volunteers’ dedication and genuine love of what they do, which keeps customers happy and coming back time and time again. Because of our volunteers, our resale shops raise hundreds of thousands of dollars annually. These funds directly supports Sun Health initiatives, including projects that allow our community medical centers – Banner Boswell and Banner Del E. Sun Health, legacy donors Dutch and Dolores Svoboda have seen lots of changes since moving to Sun City in 1974, especially when it comes to health care. The Iowa natives know that excellent health care is a vital community asset that works best with community support. For more than 40 years, they’ve put that knowledge into action by supporting Sun Health Foundation. Sun Health Foundation is proud to support Banner Boswell’s mission of excellent patient care and, thanks to its generous donors, recently provided financial support for Banner MD Anderson’s expansion of its radiation oncology services to Banner Boswell Medical Center in Sun City, AZ.

It can be frightening and painful to watch a loved one experience memory lapses, behavioral changes and the inevitable functional decline brought on by dementia. The Sun Health Memory Care Navigator is someone you can depend on to share knowledge about dementia and available community resources. The Navigator helps minimize the stress of supporting a loved one with this chronic disease. This program, offered at no charge thanks to the generous funding of the Sun Health Foundation, provides personal and professional guidance for patients, family members and care givers coping with the emotional, psychological and physical effects of dementia. The Navigator prepares an individualized plan of care tailored to each patient’s needs and serves as a liaison between patients and families, their physicians, and ancillary community services. Bonnie Boyce-Wilson has a family history of diabetes, so she’s always monitored her health in this regard. When her A1Cs began to climb higher, she sought assistance with pre-diabetes management with the Sun Health Center for Health & Wellbeing. The Sun Health Center for Health & Wellbeing is funded in large part by the Sun Health Foundation. Joan Stukenborg has a family history of heart disease. She has received several heart procedures that were invasive, and required lengthy recovery. With the new TAVR procedure provided in part by funding from the Sun Health Foundation, Joan received life-saving surgery, and was walking around the nursing station only hours later, feeling better than she thought possible. Debra Archer has a history of breast cancer in her family, and had a benign lump removed from her breast at the age of 17. When Ms. Archer found herself on disability and without insurance, she reached out to her health care provider, who told her about the free mammograms available in part through the Sun Health Foundation’s support of the Pink Roadhouse Mammo fund.
