For more than a decade, the greater Phoenix-area has seen a big increase in psychological cases packing local emergency departments. Banner Del E. Webb nonprofit medical center in Sun City West is responding to this need, thanks to support from Sun Health.
Construction is nearing completion on a $3 million expansion of its behavioral health wing on the fourth floor, with the addition of a third unit, to house 20 new beds.
This will allow the hospital to serve 60 percent more patients with issues ranging from depression to bipolar disorder.
