Stan Rubinstein grew up in the Bronx, New York. His wife, Christine Sevcik, was born half a world away in a displaced persons camp in postwar Germany. When Leonard and Peggy Kirschner met in Madrid in 1971 while both, coincidentally, were shopping for cars, neither could have guessed how far their partnership would travel.
