“Tis the season for live performances of festive holiday music! Residents and family members at Grandview Terrace’s Health and Rehabilitation Center, and at The Colonnade’s Assisted Living and Memory Support Center, recently were treated to the melodic sounds of the Pirazzi String Quartet, featuring members of the Phoenix Symphony. Participants thoroughly enjoyed the music, with some singing along, clapping, and tapping their feet. The musicians performed favorite holiday tunes thanks to underwriting from Sun Health Foundation. Studies have shown that music not only helps people feel happier; there are actual therapeutic benefits for those experiencing health conditions including memory loss. On December 1, the 38 exclusive members of Sun Health Foundation’s Women of Distinction voted during the group’s Annual Business Meeting to direct $25,800 that will benefit those seeking support through Sun Health Wellness’ Memory Care Navigator Program. The program, offered at no charge thanks to community donations to Sun Health Foundation, provides personal and professional guidance for patients, family members and caregivers coping with the emotional, psychological, and physical effects of dementia. Women of Distinction is a community of women champions who advance the Sun Health mission through a focused investment of time, talent, and treasure. Record year! 401 participants raised over $50,000 at the 5K for Women’s Health Walk/Run
On Sunday, Sept. 25 at Surprise Stadium, more than 400 people ages 5-92 participated in person or virtually during Sun Health Foundation’s third annual 5K Walk/Run for Women’s Health in support of healthier women and a stronger community. Innovative robotic-assisted technology to aid in lung cancer care is unveiled at Banner Boswell Medical Center
It was an exciting day for advancements in medical care in the West Valley. A ribbon-cutting on June 14 took place at Banner Boswell Medical Center to herald the arrival of a robot-assisted bronchoscopy platform that detects cancerous nodules sooner. The hospital is the first in metro Phoenix’s West Valley to offer this innovation.
